Licensing

Licensing

Everything we publish can be licensed for more than one person: a school or district, a homeschool family or co-op, a congregation, a paid course or retreat, a studio, or a chaplaincy or reentry program. Same materials, the rights you need, one invoice. A free circle reading one of our reader’s editions doesn’t need a license at all.

  • Homeschool families and co-ops. One household, or a co-op or learning pod of up to fifteen families.

What a school or district license covers

A single purchase covers one teacher or one reader. A license covers everyone named on it.

Every school and district license includes the complete PDF, the four-page Teacher Guide, and an invoice for your business office. Family and co-op licenses have their own terms, below. Group, studio and facility licenses are quoted to fit how you meet.

Homeschool families and co-ops

Family license. Every child in one household, at any grade, and any parent or guardian teaching them. It never expires. Print as many copies as your own children need. World Religions Through Six Lives is $12.75. Every other packet is one and a half times its single-classroom price.

Co-op license. A co-op, learning pod or small group class of up to fifteen families, for twelve months. Unlimited print copies for enrolled students, and the PDF can go to enrolled families by email or a private group. Students keep the copies they’ve printed and written in.

Co-op sizePrice per packet, per year
Up to 8 families$99
9 to 15 families$149

Two or three families at one table usually spend less with a family license each. More than fifteen families? Ask about a small school license.

Circles, groups and studios

A free circle—a book club, a meditation group, friends at a kitchen table—can use our reader’s editions without a license. Paid, institutional or organizational settings need one: retreats and workshops you charge for, courses, church programs and teacher trainings. Tell us how many people meet and which title you have in mind, and we’ll send a quote. Each reader’s edition carries everything a facilitator needs to run it as a circle.

Chaplaincy, correctional and reentry programs

Facility programs need materials ready to hand out and paperwork that fits how the facility buys. We work from your purchase order. We quote printed copies in bulk, and where coil binding isn’t allowed, ask us about paperback copies. Contact us for a quote.

Printed sets

For 25 or more printed copies of any title, we offer 30–40% off the retail price, depending on the title and quantity. Sets are printed and shipped by Lulu, our print partner. Reader’s editions come coil-bound, so they lie flat for writing. Where coil binding isn’t allowed, ask us about paperback copies.

Purchase orders and invoices

Schools, districts, facilities and programs can pay by purchase order. Every school, district, pilot and co-op license comes with an invoice.

Try it for a semester

Teach World Religions Through Six Lives in your school for one semester before committing to a year.

  • $100 for up to twenty weeks, from a start date you choose, for every teacher and student in one school who uses the unit
  • The full $100 counts toward a small school, building or district license bought within 60 days after the pilot ends
  • One pilot per school
  • A fifteen-minute assessment before the first section and the same one after the last. Send us class totals, never student names, and we send back a one-page summary within two weeks

Standards alignment

Every classroom title’s Teacher Guide lists the standards it meets, by code: Common Core reading and literacy strands at grades 8, 9–10 and 11–12, the C3 Framework, the AASL learner standards, and Texas TEKS where they apply. We print only what a title earns.

On Texas TEKS World History 22(B). That standard names seven traditions: Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. World Religions Through Six Lives covers five of them. Its sixth life, Zhuangzi, represents Taoism, which the standard doesn’t name. Sikhism: The Ten Gurus and a single reading on Confucius, both in the works, will cover the other two. We’d rather tell you that up front.

Taught, not preached

Our classroom materials teach about religious traditions. They don’t promote or disparage any of them, or ask students to practice or believe anything. Each tradition speaks through its own sources, quoted and cited. Where a famous story is tradition rather than documented history, the text says so. Our circle and reader’s editions add practices and journal prompts. They’re offered, never required, and what to make of them belongs to the people in the room.
